I have been in the fitness industry since 2008, having first worked as an instructor in a ladies gym as well as teaching circuits throughout the community. However, whilst I have the experience and qualifications to train people to their best potential, I have also had the opportunity to experience something many other personal trainers have not; that is the feeling of being overweight and out of shape!
Whilst feeling the pressure of a milestone birthday on the horizon I made a decision to change my lifestyle in order to enter my 40,s in the best possible health available to me. After attaining a good level of fitness off my own back I decided to make a small investment and treat myself to a personal trainer in order to focus more on the final stages of my goals. This is how I met Matt and WOW, what a difference it made, having some-one else to push me and take an interest in my attainments really kept me focused and the rest, as they say, is history! This decision changed the course of my life as well as significantly improving my health, helping me lose over 40lbs and gaining me the empathy and understanding to pass on the knowledge of my success to you.
My introduction to the world of fitness also led me down another path; to become a trained hypno-therapist practitioner! At first it might not seem that relevant to fitness, but once I knew how powerful the mind is it made logical sense. Basically, if your mind is on the right track, your body will follow its lead. Therefore I knew this would be another tool in my box to help people achieve and maintain their goals using a more holistic body and mind approach. Do not worry though this is just another option available if required or wanted and I wont be making you act like a chicken whilst your doing squats!! I would also like to make a disclaimer here and make it clear that neither myself or Matt could make anyone or anything behave like a chicken unless, of course, it was a chicken! It just happens to be the most common response when we tell clients we practice hypno- therapy.
Along this journey I have learnt to fully enjoy the capabilities of my body, setting new challenges for myself (if anyone told me 10 yrs ago I would be running half marathons for fun I would have laughed in their face!) and using my knowledge and experience of weight reduction and nutrition to help others achieve their own success stories. As your personal trainer I will take pleasure in your successes as if they were my own.
